To enjoy the Regatta Mexico Cup takes nothing

Public in general will be able to enjoy the event at no cost from some points in Bahia de Banderas

Activities officially started on Sunday February 28th with the Opening Ceremony at Marina Riviera Nayarit in La Cruz

The Regatta Mexico Cup - Nextel Bicentennial Edition official started this Sunday, February 28th, with the Opening Ceremony that took place at the Marina Riviera Nayarit in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, at 9:00 a.m. sharp, and during almost fifteen days Riviera Nayarit will vibe as part of a true Extravaganza Nautica, which the public will be able to enjoy at no cost from several points in Bahia de Banderas.

Between February 28 and March 13, the Regatta Mexico Cup will flood the region with sports activities and, though a good deal of the competitions will actually occur at high seas and cannot be appreciated from the beach; many other thrills are in order for the community to enjoy this great event.

Extravaganza Nautica 2010, an unprecedented event for the lovers of the sea, will bring together eleven water sports and marine culture related activities to take place between February 28 and March 20, in Riviera Nayarit, which seeks to post itself as the prime choice nautical destination of the Mexican Pacific.

The Extravaganza is unprecedented in the history of nautical sports in this country, and this was achieved thanks to the great support Nayarit Governor, Ney Gonzalez Sanchez, has given to the tourist industry as the motor for the State's development.

These are some of the recommendations for the public in general to be able to enjoy the activities of the Regatta Mexico Cup, and all of them are free.

MEXORC
February 27 to March 6

Due to the fact that regattas take place at high seas, these are the suggested schedules for the community to attend and live the experience at the Marina Riviera Nayarit:

11:00 am - 12:00 pm Departure of Sail ships
4:00 pm - 6:00 pm Arrival of Sail ships

NOTE: On March 3 there is a recess from competitions, so that the activities both at sea and in the Marina shall be considerable reduced.

KITESURF
February 28 to March 6

As opposed to the oceangoing and competition classes, the Kitesurf regattas can be easily seen from the beach. If you want to enjoy this sport you may come to the beach in front of Decameron Hotel and the DIF Campsite, in Bucerias. This activity can be seen during these days from 1:00 to 5:00 pm.

NOTE: The regattas on February 28 and March 1st correspond to the elimination phase for national competitors. On March Thursday 4 and Friday 5 the Freestyle competitions shall also be appreciated.

OPTIMIST
March 3 to 7

Optimist regattas also take place at open sea and the competition is difficult to appreciate from the beach. To best enjoy this experience it is suggested that the public meets at the main access onto the South beach of Nuevo Vallarta, to be able to see the departures and arrivals of the competitors.

Best hours to see the sail ships:

12:30 pm - 1:00 pm: Departure of sail ships
4:00 pm - to 5:00 pm: Arrival of sail ships

BEACH VOLLEYBALL

A stadium for 2,500 people has been erected on the beach in Nuevo Vallarta, between the hotels Ocean Terrace and Playa Royale. Access is totally free.

Place: beaches at La Cruz de Huanacaxtle
Hours: 1 pm to 5 pm
Windsurf regattas can be seen from the beach easily, as opposed to those oceangoing and competition classes. If you want to enjoy this sport you may come to the La Manzanilla beaches and those around the La Cruz de Huanacaxtle area. Activities may be seen daily from 1:00 to 5:00 pm.
