RIVIERA NAYARIT CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU

Riviera Nayarit, Mexico – For the past six years, Marc Murphy has had the responsibility, as director general of the Riviera Nayarit Convention & Visitors Bureau, of spearheading the growth and marketing of Mexico’s newest tourism destination and supervising the operations of the bureau.

Prior to joining Riviera Nayarit Convention & Visitors Bureau, Murphy, a native of Montreal, Canada, owned and operated his own destination management company, working with numerous tour operators and receptive ground services companies. From 1997 to 2001, he worked for MLT Vacations and Northwest Airlines in managing receptive services in the Banderas Bay area, the hub of leisure tourism and recreation in Riviera Nayarit.

Murphy began his career with Tours Chanteclerc in Montreal organizing tours to Europe. Other experience includes two years with Receptour Canada where he organized motorcoach and FIT programs for Europeans visiting the Americas, and Adventure Tours Canada and Sol Vac Holidays where he developed Mexico programs for Canadians and had his first experience working with Puerto Vallarta. In 1996, he also developed Mexico programs for Fiesta West, another Canadian tour operator.

Murphy holds a degree in tourism management from Champlain University of Montreal and did graduate studies in tourism at McGill University as well.
